X-rays and photographs are an important part of your treatment. Whether you are beginning treatment, finishing or a “work in progress”, these records help your doctor visualize parts of your anatomy that can’t be seen with the naked eye. The images will show the bones of the jaw and face, the roots of the teeth, and many other hard tissue structures of the head and neck. The photographs show soft tissue aspects of the patient’s anatomy that can’t be visualized in the x-rays. Together, they provide part of what your doctor needs to properly diagnose and treat you.
To better serve our patients in this capacity, we now have the most advanced version in our new i-CAT digital imaging system!
The i-CAT scan uses advanced computer programs to analyze a cone beam x-ray and provide detailed three-dimensional images. Routine x-rays are two-dimensional; they only show the location of your teeth and the height of the bone and can be distorted. The i-CAT scan is distortion free and provides an exact three-dimensional image of your teeth, jaws and face.
Advantages of the i-CAT are:
- It's fast (the scan takes only 10 seconds)
